Silence Speaks Volumes: A Lesson from Job in Times of Grief
My friends, sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all.
I just finished reading the Book of Job — the story of a righteous man who lost everything: his wealth, his health, his children. Then his friends showed up … and blamed him.
God made it clear to us that Job wasn’t at fault. But his friends didn’t know that — so they accused, lectured, and judged. Before they spoke, though, they did one thing right: they sat with him in silence for seven days. No words. Just presence.
This weekend, tragedy struck families in Texas. And while real questions deserve answers, maybe we begin with quiet respect — honoring their grief with our silence.
Because if healing is the goal, sharing empathy — not opinions — might be the best place to start.
