Todd Talk: The Absurd Push for Baby “Consent” in Diaper Changes

A 60-second conservative commentary with humor and heart.

An illustrated parent looking puzzled while a baby sits on a changing table with comic-style question marks overhead, highlighting the absurdity of asking infants for “consent” during diaper changes.

My friends, some self-appointed experts now say parents should ask babies for consent before changing their diapers. Maybe these same experts can tell us what financial advice they got the last time they asked their chihuahua.

According to the report out of Deakin University in Australia, lunatics like Katherine Bussey and Nicole Downes are telling parents to kneel down and ask things like, “Do you want to walk or crawl with me to the changing table?” This isn’t science. It’s political theater.

Inside academic bubbles, these ideas sound profound. To the rest of us, they sound ridiculous. Babies don’t understand consent. They can’t give it. And pretending otherwise isn’t enlightened — it’s confused.

My dad has a term for folks who trade common sense for academic fantasy: overeducated idiots. And, my friends, that’s on full display in this story.
