My friends, according to a recent poll conducted by The Economist, the most favored politician in Venezuela today is Donald Trump, with Marco Rubio in a close second.

Now, I understand there are legitimate questions about U.S. involvement in Venezuela. Serious people can debate those details. But may I make another point?

For ten years, the Left has told us Donald Trump is a dictator, a fascist, even a Nazi. But people who have actually lived under tyranny — people who’ve endured totalitarian rule — see something very different. They see hope. They see freedom.

My friends, we are a blessed people. Most of human history has been lived under oppression, with a far lower standard of living. We live in the greatest nation on Earth.

May we never forget that — or take it for granted.
