The Stack: Confronting Evil Regimes Before It’s Too Late

For decades, America and the free world have kicked dangerous problems down the road. Iran’s radical regime is one of the clearest examples. Since the Islamic Revolution, its leaders have openly called for the destruction of Israel and the United States while pursuing nuclear capability under the guise of civilian energy development.

In today’s Toddcast, Todd argues that the time for delay has passed. When regimes fund terrorism, build ballistic missile programs, and threaten annihilation, they cross a threshold. At that point, the question is no longer whether America wants to intervene — it’s whether it can afford not to.

Todd explains the cost of political cowardice, why short-term discomfort is often required to prevent long-term catastrophe, and how true leadership means confronting evil before it metastasizes. The stakes are high, and ignoring reality only makes the reckoning more severe.

The Todd Huff Show – March 4 , 2026

Host: Todd Huff

Todd Huff: Welcome, my friends and thank you for tuning in today. The well, this the Toddcast, the Todd Huff Show. It's my pleasure. To be here with you today. I've been thinking a lot about what's going on. In the world today. I've been thinking about, of course, Iran. Some things that happen when we were out of town. Last week talking a little bit about or thinking a little bit, I should say. About? The. Well, the Mexican cartels. Thinking about Maduro. What has been happening. In Venezuela. In fact, when we were. On our little vacation when we were out of town. Three of our Uber drivers were Venezuelan. And yes, I did ask all of them their thoughts on what had been done with Maduro. And all of them were, I would say, ecstatic.

To me. Something that I think we all maybe know. I don't know how much time we spent thinking about it. But we have lived. I'm going to use a phrase I heard from the office. I remember Daryl told Michael if you were a fan of the office, Michael. Michael's job was nerf job. He lives a nerf wife. When I was a kid. There were. I don't know if they still have. I guess they do Nerf footballs. And you can have the little things that shoot the Nerf. The toy bullets or whatever. Little. We used to have things that fired little nerf rockets that you could shoot at each other. It's just kind of a spongy material or whatever. And our lives here in the United States in comparison to the rest of the world. And what people have lived with under certain types of regimes. It can be a little nerfy. It can be insulated. It can be a little bit soft.

Todd Huff: Now, I want to pause because I know individually you may be going through some really difficult circumstances individually. We all may have problems that have plagued humanity. Since the fall of mankind. Those things include broken relationships, health problems, the loss of a loved one, financial problems. I mean, I could go on down the line. So those sorts of problems were not insulated from. And those sorts of problems can be devastating. I'm not minimizing that. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about being insulated from. Having to deal with a regime that's truly totalitarian, that's truly tyrannical. That's truly oppressive. Yes, We've had bad leaders here in the United States. Yes. We've had problems. We've had problems that we've had to deal with and that we're going to have to continue dealing with. Yes, it is the nature of government to want to grow, and we have to be very aware of that. We have to be alert, awakened to what is going on in our country. I'm not minimizing any of that.

Yes, there are real problems. That we face in this country. Yes, there are times that free speech has been taken away and those things are concerning, and we talk about those things, and I'm not minimizing that in the slightest. But we have been largely insulated from some of these problems. That other people around the world have had to deal with. The problem is when these violent regimes are allowed to grow unchecked around the world, the bill eventually becomes due. Leaders in the free world are going to have to decide whether to confront these threats early on or allow these things to metastasize. And that's the core of what I see as our problem, and that's what I want to talk about today. We've allowed this to metastasize. We've allowed this to go, to grow unchecked. The leaders of the free world now. Where? Should we have intervened sooner? How should we have done that? I mean, there can be differences of opinion, but the. It's clear to me. That we have allowed this to grow to a point that it can't, specifically Iran. But these other areas as well, the cartels in Mexico, there's other examples, too.

Todd Huff: You. 've got the crisis in Cuba. You've got Maduro, Venezuela. There's a lot of problems, right? You've got Putin and Ukraine. You've got problems in many places. You got North Korea. Many of these things. We as a nation or as the free world? We've kicked the can, so to speak, down the road. We haven't wanted to deal with this. And. Listen, sometimes I understand. Sometimes you think, well, it's not really our place. The United States isn't the world's police and I don't want the United States to be the world's. Police. But there becomes. There comes a time when the problems are so clear. And there's a clear and present danger that something has to be done to prevent the further metastasizing of the cancerous problem. And that's what I want to talk about today. And I will say Trump has adequately walked up to the metaphorical plate here and dealt with this. Now, it's upsetting to some, and I think it's upsetting for a lot of reasons. Some people just hate Trump.

Some people, I don't think, have the slightest clue what we're up against. I think that many people are distracted in this country. They're more worried about who's going to win. The next competition of the Voice or American Idol or they're playing fantasy football or basketball. And listen, nothing's wrong with any of these things. It becomes a problem when it distracts us from the things that really matter. And when we've been lulled into a sleep and distracted. Sometimes by our own devices, sometimes by the tempting and the. I don't know, the way our culture and the media narrative works, those sorts of things, the things that we're told are important. Those things lead us in a direction. That sometimes causes us to be apathetic or disconnected from reality. And I know I'm preaching to the choir. You follow these things. That's why you tune in here. On a regular basis.

Todd Huff: I'm talking about a larger cultural, societal problem that we have in this country that many of you don't have because, again, you're engaged. You're trying to stay informed. You want to know what the threats and problems are. You're trying to sound the alarm bells and get your friends to pay attention, or your coworkers, your neighbors and everything else. I get it. But that's what I want to talk about. Here today, my friends, we've reached a point where we've ignored these problems for decades. In the case of Iran for, you could say, 47 years, by and large. I mean, there's, of course, examples where that's not the case. But it's been ignored and it's been minimized the level of the threat that they pose. So we'll talk about that, my friends here, in due course. Let's talk about something really quickly here, though, that is important to you, and that's your money.

You've worked hard for your money. But is your money working hard for what you believe in, or worse? Is it working against what you believe in? At 4:8 Financial, they specialize in biblically responsible investing. That means they screen out companies that do not align with your faith, your values, and they'll help create a plan for you that fits your goals, your purpose. The best part is they've got all this stuff set up. All you have to do is tell them what your investments are, what your values are. And they'll give you a report. Your current investments. Are aligned with your values. So all you have to do is head on over to 4:8Financial.com Todd that's 4:8Financial.com Todd. To find out and just take this quick and easy assessment. They'll take it from there. 4:8financial.com Todd. 4:8 Financial, helping you align your money with your mission.

Todd Huff: Okay? So the current conflict in Iran forces Americans to confront realities that have been ignored for decades. Really? Decades? You could say close to half a century, depending upon certain examples of times when these problems were directly confronted. But for a big chunk of the 47 years, since the Islamic revolution. In the founding of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the ayatollahs, a lot of these things have been ignored. The average American person has no idea what's going on there. They probably can't find it on a map. They don't understand Shia, Sunni Muslim. There's a lot of. I'd say ignorance, misunderstanding, apathy, lack of concern. And the tension that exists here. The tension that exists here. Is, at what point do we intervene? At what point do we use force in these situations?

Instead of dealing with the consequences of letting violent, out of control, maniacal evil regimes operate to the point to where they're on the verge of becoming a major, major problem for the United States of America and. The free world. As I stated earlier, America is not the world's police. We cannot fix every evil regime that. It's not our job even. The world is full of dictatorships. Historically, the world has dealt with tremendous amounts of oppression, brutality. Poverty. Things that have been created, oftentimes by governments, the governments of the people. That they're supposedly there to protect and try to support and take care of in the sense of providing. But establishing a civilization where law and order are allowed to thrive and people are allowed to live their lives, that's not what's happening. And much of the world. And it's impossible. For the United States to intervene everywhere. That's not what this is about.

Todd Huff: There's a point in the process where somebody, some country, some leader, some group of leaders become a threat to U.S. interest. And even before you get to that point, America still represents to the world whatever our lunatic press says here, no matter what the radical left says here. America still represents liberty. To the rest of the world. Hope self government, free markets, individual rights, opportunity. That's what America represents. That's why so many people want to come here. In spite of how the left talks about this country as being the problem. In the world. The reality is that this country is often the shining light, and it has been historically. It is not perfect. America has had many failures, and it is, again, far from perfect. But what are we comparing it to? Some utopian ideal that is impossible this side of heaven? Or are we comparing it to what exists elsewhere in the world?

When that is done, it's not even close, my friends. Without the united states of america. Would be much, much worse than what we have today. No doubt about it. What would these evil regimes be doing were it not for the existence of the United States? Of America. Now, at minimum, our job is to shine. I would say shine that light of truth. Around the world. Our job is to. Be that beacon of hope to be the example and listen, we shouldn't be the example just because of what people to look at us and pay attention. We should be the example because it's the right thing to do. It's not about us and saying how great we are. It's about saying, look, this is. This is a better way. This is what we have in this country and what many people around the world could have. Again. It's. It's not without opposition. But what many people around the world. Could have more of is what we have here, but we have to stand up for it. We have to be the shining light. We have to articulate it. We can't have leaders.

Todd Huff: Who are. Well, embarrassed of it. Who? Don't believe it. That's what we've had. I've said for a long time. We take on a lot of immigrants in this country, and I think that that's a good thing, right? I mean, I do. I think it's a good thing, but no matter what. Legal immigrants, by the way. But no matter what we do in that particular area. Yes. By the way, I believe in assimilation. Yes. I believe that folks should. Should assimilate, not just, you know, come into the United States. Take advantage of the system we have and then try to import the ideas that come from other parts of the world that are not so good. We don't want to see more of that. We want to see people embracing the things that made this country. What it is. But we can't take on every single person who wants to come here. That's mathematically impossible. And so the best thing we can do. To help people around the world is to export these ideas. Export American principles. Talk about free markets and free people. Constitutional rights. The concept that our rights come from God, not from government. Speaking the truth, my friends, that's important.

To do so, we should shine the light. We also need to expose tyranny. Around the world. I don't think the average person has the slightest understanding of what the world is. Is like. Meaning we live in this culture and. Listen, I understand. The things that are close to us, that are, you know, in our day to day lives, those are the things that matter. And sometimes thinking about what other countries or other people around the world have to deal with. It's so abstract. It's so foreign to us. We can't relate. We don't necessarily know anybody who's dealing with those things. But that doesn't mean that there's not millions and millions. And in some cases, billions of people who are dealing with those very problems. We have to refuse to normalize authoritarian brutality. We need to stand with people. Who are trapped under these heavy handed regimes. Look, these heavy handed regimes. When I talk about Soviet communism, for example, how Soviet communism sought to expand.

Todd Huff: I often say that the United States, and certainly again, didn't always handle every detail correctly, but we were correct in some assessments. Number one, when dealing with Soviet communism in the Cold War, We understood that communism had to expand. Because you eventually run out of other people's money. And the people who are under the heavy hand of communism realize that there's no incentive to work or be more productive. And so eventually they have to expand. They have to bring in new people. They have to force people into their system so that it produces enough just to feed the people. That's what happens. In Soviet communism. And we just can't sit by idly and. I know, listen, I'm not saying that communism is the same exact political ideology that we're dealing with, but there certainly are commonalities. These are totalitarian governments. Who in spite of whatever they say and proclaim, the reality is, the truth is that these governments think about themselves first.

And if they ever think about the people at all, they think about the people way on down. Way on down the line. And so we have to stand and support the people who are living under these regimes while trying to promote liberty and things that have made this country great by the grace of God. Now. Again. We can't be the world's police. I'm not arguing for that. However becomes a point when a foreign evil becomes an American problem. And we've crossed that threshold. When they become a threat to the US Homeland, when they become a threat to American allies, when they are a state sponsor of terrorism, when they build a ballistic missile capability, coupled with their stated desire to destroy the United States of America and our ally Israel, they become a problem. They've crossed that threshold and ultimately, or certainly when they become a nuclear weapons threat around the world coupled with ballistic missiles. That's clearly now an American problem.

Todd Huff: You know that in Iran the leaders led chance of death to America, death to Israel. The regime openly committed multiple times doubled, tripled down. Into this concept of destroying, annihilating the nation of Israel. I would say you can say that they've made that commitment to the United States as well. We're the great Satan in the eyes of these lunatics. Israel, of course, is the little Satan. According to these lunatics. Moran, of course, funded and equipped terrorist proxies to fight proxy wars. And they're clearly pursuing nuclear capability. This is a ruse that they've given the international community for some time. That said, they're trying to develop nuclear energy to provide electricity to people, affordable electricity to people in the countryside of Iran. Bet me this is ridiculous. There's no way that an adult should believe these people and their stated purpose. It is obvious what they're trying to do. And that's what they've been building.

We took out their nuclear. Program to the best of our ability back in June of last year. And here we are, March of this year, I guess it was February 28th of this year. We did the same thing by taking out new facilities that they were trying to build, trying to basically establish to continue their nuclear weapons. Program. This is not a simple disagreement over policy. It's not a simple disagreement over taxes. These things are important, my friends. It's not some regulatory policy. It's a question of how free societies survive and what we must do to ensure to ensure that evil and tyranny do not spread further around the world. That's what I want to continue to talk about today. But as I glance at the clock. I am getting to the end of this. Our first segment of the program today. Sit tight. Everything's going to be fine. We'll continue this conversation. On the other side of the break.

Todd Huff: But, friends, let me tell you here, as I'm wrapping up this break, If you own a business, if you work in marketing, if you work in hr, if you are responsible for ordering things that have your company's logo on it, whether it's apparel, trade show, signage, banners, whether it's promotional products, awards, My friends Red, White and Brand is here to help you. To save 10% on your first purchase. Red whiteandbrand. Com Your logo on almost anything. Promo Code. Promo. Todd, quick. Time out, my friends. Back here in just a minute.

Welcome back, My friends, we're talking about the broader picture here. The broader picture of what should be happening. How do we deal with these threats when they arise? And my premise, which I stay in firmly behind, is that the United States has largely kicked the can. Of this problem and other problems down the road for a long time. It's not politically advantageous. For our politicians to deal with these problems. I think about this much like I think about truly fixing the economy when there are economic problems. By the way, Trump has dealt with this. Trump is actually the example of, again, without getting into the specifics of where we might agree or disagree, But what he's doing and what he's committed to is exactly what it takes, because here's what happens. The United States economy is often built on, let's just say, a particular sector of the economy. It's held up. It's financially supported by federal programs and everything else.

Todd Huff: Well, we all know. We all know that it is in the best interest of the taxpayer and in the best interest of free markets for this not to be the case. For the government not to put its fingers on the scale. The economic scale and to press down and to give advantages to some businesses, groups of people, whatever. Over others. We all understand this. I think at least theoretically or at some level, we understand that. The problem is that there will be short term pain because the markets will adjust. People will probably, if you take away funding or federal, whatever, federal dollars or whatever it is, however the government is helping a particular industry or whatever. If you take that away, there's going to be short term pain. NCR elections are every two years in the House of Representatives, every four years in the White House, and every six years for U.S. senate seats. And sometimes that pain, that short term pain. Will interfere with. Will interfere with those time cycles, the reality of how long we have to manage each of those. Each of those things, each of those problems, economic problems.

So if a problem takes, say, 345 years to fully cycle out and to make its own corrections, Politically, it's dangerous. Because in the short term, You're going to have to go out there and explain why your economic policies or decisions to cut a program or whatever. Actually led to short term problem. But see, it's long term gain. I've compared this to getting treatment. For. Let's say someone has a malignant. Or, excuse me, someone has a cancerous tumor. There's a period of time. When the treatment path that you take. May make you weaker, more tired. May be very difficult for you. But if they're able to kill the cancer and. Listen, I'm not trying to. Argue for a certain type of treatment or anything, but there's a process where the treatment can make people feel worse, more tired. More vulnerable, maybe to other illnesses because their immune system is down. But the idea is to say, let's kill the disease. And then when we look out on the horizon, That's where Renewed health, that's where that can be found. And there's examples of this happening.

Todd Huff: With people. Or you could say the let's say that you're looking to lose weight and get into shape when you first start working out and dieting. You may have headaches. You may have fatigue. You may need to sleep more than usual. You may be sore from lifting and using muscles you hadn't used in years or whatever. But again, on the other side of that, if you give that some period of time, You will feel better, you'll have more energy. You'll lose more weight, you'll get healthier, whatever. On the other side of that. And. But the problem is, you have to walk through it. You have to walk through it in today's world. Where headlines are sound headlines or sound bites, it's not always helpful. And when you have it disengaged population who's again busy doing whatever it's doing and not really understanding. How these decisions are made and how things take time and how there's a course correction involved. They just care about their. What, Their bank accounts, the inflation rate today.

Whatever, right? Even if it's propped up and it's fake. They don't care because they're completely content and happy. With their current lifestyle or whatever. And so you have this problem. And the same is true when you deal with problems on the international stage. And we've kicked the can. Down the road. But true leadership looks at this and says, here's the problem we're facing, and here's how we have to deal with it. The islamic republic of iran. And you could also throw in el mincho. Of. The jalisco new generation cartel. You could throw in el chapo. The son of El Chapo. You could throw in Maduro in Venezuela, Hugo Chavez before him. You can go through all these examples and see that. The short term difficulties that come. Are sometimes simply too much for leaders to want to deal with it. It's easier. It's easier to kick the can down the road. It is. It's not the right thing to do.

Todd Huff: And so along comes a guy named Donald Trump, and he doesn't have that philosophy. He wants to address these problems. He sees the risks, he sees the threats, he sees the danger, and he acts and he does something. About it. Because. What is the cost if we don't act? What is the cost? Now there's dispute on this. But there's no doubt. I mean, Iran has not made it a secret. It kept it a secret what their intentions are. They want a world without. The nation of Israel. They want a world without the United States of America, at least as they currently stand in their systems of government and the people that exist within those countries. They hate the Jewish state. They hate people who believe in liberty. They want to establish at least a regional and ideally for them. Not so much for the rest of us. A worldwide Islamic caliphate. They want to see forced Sharia law where you are. You either willingly convert to Islam or you pay the price. That's what these folks believe in.

How do you compromise with that? How do you find a middle ground when the starting point for the Iranian government is the death of Israel and the death of the United States of America? Should we say, well, we'll sacrifice half of our country. You can kill half of us. I mean, how do you even begin to deal with that? These people are evil. They've been allowed to do what they've done for decades. And listen, I know that along the way, based upon some of the things I've laid out, how politicians deal with this. And also just the reality in human nature. You say, well, What are we supposed to do here? Should we really intervene there? But eventually you answer that question in the negative enough. Well, it's not really our place. And all these sorts of things. And the next thing you know, they're on the threshold of having nuclear weapons and having promised to use those. Against their enemies. Calling for the absolute annihilation. Of the people of Israel, for example. We'll get to continue this here in a moment.

Todd Huff: So been talking about? Just dealing with these problems. And how to deal with them effectively. And the fact that we have kicked the proverbial can down the road for a long time, for decades, in many cases, we've talked about Iran, which is front and center right now. It's interesting to me. Of course. Politicians are politicians. They look for opportunities. To create a narrative that is most advantageous for themselves. That's who they are. We have to understand that that's always who they are, and that's always who they're going to be. So it's aggravating for those of us who care about the country. You would think real leadership right now would come together. And. That what we're dealing with here? In the case of Iran, Is a very serious and grave threat. A grave danger.

And there can be disagreements. Maybe people think, hey, you shouldn't have made this strike. You've escalated this. Okay? I don't see it that way. They escalated it. If a group of people decide that people are going to die, And then strong men and leaders get together and say they've made the decision, people are going to die. We're making the decision that it's not going to be our people. We're going to make the decision that it's going to be on their heads and not ours. That's what strong leadership looks like. And it's just bizarre to me that some people think you've got a maniacal regime that's hellbent on the annihilation of people who do not agree with them. From a religious. From a religious perspective. Or political religious perspective. And they're prepared and justified to kill anyone who disagrees with them. That's the starting point.

Any response that we have to that cannot be put upon us. We're not the problem, my friends, in that equation. But there are a lot of people who act like we are, a lot of people who believe Trump is again, If someone has decided that there's going to be a conflict, the only thing, the only responsible thing, the other party, the other side can do. Is simply say we're going to defend ourselves. And we're going to make sure you're the one who pays the price for this conflict and not us. That's the only thing that they can do. You can't talk these people out of it. You can't reason with them. They are absolute madmen. Absolute madmen. And so, again, I would like to see even people who have differences of opinion on this realize that this is a real clear, present danger. What's happening.

In Iran before Trump and Israel decided to pull the metaphorical trigger here, in the literal trigger, there were problems. They have been created by Iran. And now, when we've ignored them for so long. When they're on the precipice of having nuclear weapons. Something has to be done. This is what happens when you kick the can down the road. It's what happened in again Venezuela. How many problems. How much regional destabilization, how many people that were in prisons, that were released that ended up. In the United States should we allow to cross our borders illegally? Members of gangs that come in and terrorize our country that can be traced back to Venezuela. How much of this are we required to put up with before we say enough? And we take out the problem.

How much are we supposed to put up with when it comes to the violence and the terror, the sheer terror, the evil that has been perpetrated upon the Mexican people and some Americans? By drug cartels. How much of we supposed to put up with this before we do something about it? See, this stuff looks radical by confronting it only because. Only because we've ignored it. For generations now, for decades upon decades, we've ignored these things and they've metastasized. Trump, I think, has realized that. No matter who the next president is, especially if it's a Democrat, these problems will be simply ignored. And even if it's a Republican, Unfortunately, that's the reality. There's a good chance that these problems are going to be ignored or not dealt with completely. I hope that's not the case. I hope we continue to have strong leadership. I'm not completely given up hope in that respect. But in reality, Trump's the one person that has proven he's willing and able to deal with these things. And if the real threats, what else are you supposed to do? Folks. I got to run. Have a great day. SDG.

The Stack: Trump’s Constitutional Authority to Strike Iran and the War Powers Debate
